Our Goal
To keep our current fenced, off-leash area intact without roads or other intrusive additions, for the use of all citizens of San Diego.
- Unlike all other Mission Bay users, dog owners have no other place to go.
- This area is enjoyed in it's natural state by dog owners and others alike, 365 days a year.
- Off-leash users are the largest user group (by thousands!) currently utilizing the fenced, off-leash section of Fiesta island.
- San Diego has a wonderful opportunity to recognize and preserve the unique character of Fiesta Island.
- San Diego needs to plan for off-leash use while the opportunity still exists.

- Open space is a thing of the past in San Diego. We need to preserve what we have.
- Because Fiesta Island is not the same cookie cutter “cement tables and turf” type park experience, it supports the diverse needs of families with and without dogs.
- Because when dogs were banned from all other beaches in the City of San Diego in 1972, and ordinance was created to allow for off-leash use in Fiesta Island.
“Fiesta Island should be a place where city residents and visitors alike find the
ultimate refuge from urban congestion, noise and visual clutter.”
